miliaria is a caused by obstruction of the sweat gland duct during hot humid summer season.
KEY POINT.
Itching, stinging and secondary infection can occur and lead to periporitis (multiple staphylococcal abscesses) superimposed on miliaria rubra in young children. Eczematization can occur.
MEDICATION AND TREATMENT.
NONPHARMACOLOGICAL
- Avoid causal factor like heat and occlusion due to oils, creams, cosmetics etc.
- cool baths and aeration.
PHARMACOLOGICAL
- Emollients like anhydrous lanolin or calamine lotion locally. or
- Talc or any commercially available powders.
- For relief of itching tab. Pheniramine 25 mg 3 times a day .
PRECAUTION
- Frequent cool bath and aeration.
- To stay in cool environment to minimize the body's need to sweat.
- No oil application over scalp and body.
